Hey everyone,
Today in class we reviewed the portion of our exam review booklet labelled "Electricity". The point in going over this section was to review for our test tomorrow on Electricity. The answers were conducted on the front board by Hao and the new guy.
The next scribe is Matthew.

June 9 Scribe Post
Hey everyone!
I would like to start off by reminding everyone there will be a test on friday and our exam begins on tuesday in class! You only need to bring writing devices and a calculator to the exam, do not bring your books and papers! :D
Okay so we began todays class with a demonstration about Lens law. We saw that a magnet dropped down a copper tube took longer to fall then a regular piece of metal.
Next we went through a worksheet called Electromagnetic Induction (Lenz's Law)
The answers are...
1. Left side: N Right side: S Current: up
2. Left side: S Right Side N Current: down
3. Left side: S Right Side: N Current: down
4. Left side: S Right side: N Current down
5. Left side: S Right side: N Current down
6. Left side: N Right side: S Current: up
7. Left side: N Right side: S Current up
8. no current.
We then corrected the Transformers worksheet.
1. 1200v
2. 1.2A
3. 1440W
4. 1440 W
5. 12A
6.up, down
7. more, less
8. voltage, energy and power
9. step down, 20/1
10. ac, continually change
Lastly we corrected the chapter 26 review. We did not have to do questions 4 and 5.
1. 5.0 x 10^-4 v
2. 2.24x10^-5A
3. down
6. Left side: s Right side: N Current: up
7. 125:1
8. a)300 000 b) 1: 2 500
9. a) 3 x 10^5 b) 0.06A c) 18 000 W
The next few days of class will be used for asking questions about the exam and test. Have fun studying!

Hello classmates :)
Today we resumed our study of the Electromagnetic Induction unit. We started off by watching 5 pretty helpful animations that should clarify important concepts in this unit.
If you would like to re-watch them, the URL is as follows...
(Lol honestly, I totally copied the URL down wrong in class -_-" But I refound it)
http://glencoe.mcgraw-hill.com/sites/0078807220/student_view0/chapter25/
This will link you to the main menu of Chapter 25. You'll find the simulations under Concepts in Motion.
Woow! I just checked the site out quickly, and it would be really helpful if you could make proper use of it. Honestly, take advantage of this site, not just this direct link to chapter 25 for the test this Friday, but in preparation for the exam as well. Ok ok.
So the 5 animations that we viewed in class were on the following topics:
Electric Generator
Electromagnetic Induction
Application of Lenz's Law
Magnets and Lenz's Law
Wire Loop
After these simulations, we watched "Mr. Same-same's" lesson on electromagnetic induction. What is his actual name, if anyone knows? I'd want to try to search his lessons up.
The end of the video pretty much concluded today's class. No wait, we were also given the chapter's review (a worksheet). In case you didn't pick it up and are wanting to work on it, here it is:
(front side) http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx235/camyt/Chapter26Review.jpg?t=1275955138
(back side) http://i759.photobucket.com/albums/xx235/camyt/Chapter26Review2.jpg?t=127595563
I realized the images don't appear automatically for whatever reason. You have to click on the blank white page that opens up.
Key notes:
P. 533 (19-22) If you have not already, these questions are to be handed in tomorrow morning by 9 am.
Chapter Review Worksheet Work on it for next class.
Electromagnetic Induction Test This Friday, June 11.
- Check out the glencoe mcgraw-hill site!
No class tomorrow; staff meeting day.
That is all.
Love,
Camy

On Friday we corrected questions 14 to 18 on p.533 in the green textbooks. Later, we were assigned to answer and hand in questions 19 to 22. Here's the questions just in case you didn't copy them down:
19) A step-up transformer is connected to a generator that is delivering 125 V and 95 A. The ratio of the turns on the secondary to the turns on the primary is 1000 to 1.Yay.20) A 150W transformer has an input voltage of 9.0 V and an output current of 5.0 A.
- What voltage is across the secondary?
- What current flows in the secondary?
21) A transformer has input voltage and current of 12V and 3.0A respectively, and an output current of 0.75A. If there are 1200 turns on the secondary side of the transformer, how many turns are on the primary side?
- Is this a step-up or step-down transformer?
- What is the ratio of output voltage to input voltage?
22) Scott connects a transformer to a 24V source and measures 8.0V at the secondary. If the primary and secondary were reversed, what would the new output voltage be?

Muhanad, June 1st post:
hi everyone,
today we finished off our unit on current electricity, and series & parallel circuits by taking up the chapter 23 study guide.
we also started our last unit: "electromagnetic induction."
today we worked on the chapter 25 study guide and took it up (first page only)
also we got a handout with a worksheet titled "grade 12 worksheet: electromagnetic induction" so make sure to get both if you didn't.
Dates to remember:
- last TEST next Friday (June 11)
- final EXAM: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (June 15,16,17) this will take place during regular class time so don't be late.
Thanks,
Muhanad

Electric circuit
Good afternoon my scattered classmates. This is Wahida posting.
Let's begin from friday, May, 28, 2010:
We had a sub- Ms. Woo (I believe). With her help we corrected the chapter 23 Study Guide. If you need the answers I will be more than happy to lend to mine.
Next we corrected Chapter 35: Electric Circuits- COMPOUND CIRCUITS. The answers are as follows:
1. 1/5 +1/5 =2/5
=5/2
=2.5 ohms
2. 1/8 + 1/8 =2/8
=8/2
=4ohms
3a. 1 ohm+1 ohm=2 ohms → 1/2+1/2=1
3 b. 1 ohm
4b.
4c.
4d.
Next we were assigned Question from the Green textbook. They are as follows:
Do #9 on applying concepts, pg 487, also on pg. 488-489 questions 13,14,16,17.
Now to the present: Ms. Kozoriz was back!! yay
Naturally, we went over the questions assigned on Friday. so here are the answers:
9. a. series b. series c. parallel d. series e. parallel f. series g. series h. parallel i. parallel
13. 6V
14a. 8.89 ohms b. 4.5A c. 2.5A
16. a. 2A b. 3A c. 15A d. yes it will.
By the way question 17 is or was to be handed in today. you may still be able to do if you haven't already.
Please leave me a comment at the bottom of this post if I've got any answers incorrect. thanks!
Also we got the answers to exam review qjuestions
Also went through a Transparency Worksheet today.
Also we got a Study Guide Booklet and a sheet- SERIES AND PARALLEL ELEMENTS.
Also we were given a link on a piece of paper, which suppose to help us with next week Friday's test.
here is the link if you don't have it: http://higheredbcs.wiley.com/legacy/college/cutnell/0471151831/concepts/index.htm?newwindow=true
OKAY I am tired! see you guys tomorrow
and the scribe for tomorrow is.......... let me check first.............never mind the scribe list is dead. so lets pick Catherine or Trinh for tomorrow.
